Pants!

So after all my Christmas gift making madness (more posts on those later after I fully recover. ha!), I feel the need to go back to my sewing roots and make a garment.

I am in the middle of a weight loss adventure, and while I just cinch in my work pants with a belt for now, that doesn't work for the more active use that my dancing clothes get. After a few near wardrobe malfunctions on the dance floor (note to self, ALWAYS wear nice undies dancing, even under pants. Just in case.) So I need to make a few pairs of pants in my current size to get me through until I settle down at my "forever weight" and start making visions of gorgousness that I will wear everyday because they will fit me forever. As I ride my unicorn off into the sunset. :-)

I decided to try out the Hot Patterns 1091 Wong Singh Jones Marrakesh Drawstring Pants and I am currently searching for The Perfect Fabric--although I find it difficult to buy fabrics on-line when drape is a major factor in your results and this pattern definitely qualifies. I don't want to resort to Joann's, but I may have to in order to be able to feel my way to the right drape.

If any of y'all have any suggestions for a particular .com fabric you have run across that would work for this one, please throw them my way. I do need to be able to dance (and sweat!!) in them so it has to be fairly easy care fabric. And since these are "temporary" pants, I don't want to spend gobs of cash.

I want MORE MORE MORE

The Husband is stated that he is absolutely and completely UNAVAILABLE to look at any more of my &$#^%*#$^ fabric swatches.

You are welcome to do the same....

But if not, here are some lovely choices from Thai Silks. I am diggin on the polka dots....but not sure how I feel about navy. The second polkadot is even on sale....but I am not sure my slobby clumsy self can be trusted with the light colors....

ETA: By the way, for you local folks, if you see a gal wandering around G Street Saturday morning with a green shoe in her hand, that will be me. I am still gonna head over there and see what I can see before any final decisions are made. It is just so hard to do things on line when color is an issue.....and maybe I will get lucky at the G-ollyThatIsExpensive Street.

Fabrics....ARGH!

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am liking the idea of the black/white print with green trim, and I am betting that will be easier to find than the purple. But if I trip over a suitable purple print, I am still open to the idea.

The fabric stores are killing me....there is this one, a silk/rayon blend, how perfect would it be!!!!!

But....OUT OF STOCK! BASTARDS!

Then there is this one....

But it is all cotton, not suitable to the dress.

I have also found these guys....

I kinda dig that first one, but not sure if the colors would be right in person and it might be hard to find a trim fabric that would match. And I am kinda hoping to NOT use a sheer....mostly out of laziness.

I just got a G Street coupon, so perhaps I will wander that way this weekend.

The search continues.....

ETA: Have I been smoking the pink fabric crack pipe too much? would a pink with green trim be freaky-deaky? Cause I am grooving on these fabrics a litttle bit....

ETA again: Some more options....I rather like the first one, but it might be too bright for a wedding and just too wacky with the shoes.

There was a reason I bought those patterns in the first place....

I did an amazing thing. I actually looked through the patterns I already own and choose something from the pattern stash for the upcoming wedding. SHOCKER! I am using OOP Vogue 2784.

I don't think I have suitable fabric in the stash, so I still need to go shopping. I have it in my head that I want to wear these shoes, but I ALWAYS am trying to match these shoes and haven't managed successfully yet....

Is a purple dress with lime green accents too much, too out there? Probably....

Open to suggestions for fabrics. I tromped around Joann's but am too cranky about fabric quality to have much luck there anymore. I went to G Street but am WAY too cheap to buy most of their stuff.
