Pink Ladybugs

A friend asked me to make a girly baby quilt as a gift for her cousin. She came to me and told me the they had chosen pink ladybugs as the theme for their nursery, but she didn't expect me to find pink ladybug fabric so we could just coordinate the colors. HA! Little did she know, there is fabric featuring EVERYTHING and on every theme (It seems to me at least. Granted, some of it is UGLY fabric, but I don't think I have ever searched on a particular theme for fabric and not found SOMETHING). Not only did I find pink ladybugs, I found several different lines of fabric that featured them (Holy Bug Fabric Batman!)! I eventually chose the Ballerina Belles line from Avlyn which I think is out of print now.

I am unreasonably pleased with and proud of that applique I did in the corner. I made it with soft yummy felt and embroidered the little antennae. I kept petting it and taking it out to look at it before I delivered it. My preeeeciiiousssss.....

I am not usually much into the girly pinkness, but I have to admit, I fell more in love with this one the further I progressed with it. I had a hard time giving it up! However, my friend did sent me some very cute pictures of the recipient baby lounging around on it joyfully (which I won't post cause I don't post pictures of other people's kids without specific permission), so that makes it a little easier to swallow.

I'm not into pink, either, but that is one super, super, cute baby quilt! I think I'd have a hard time giving it away, too.
