I know better, but why don't I DO better....

I have so much fabric and so many patterns. I keep buying more. I rarely sew these days, though I often go into the sewing room to flip through the patterns and pet the fabric.

I am severely unsatisfied with my current body. And therefore refuse to use any of my fabric to make anything for this body. Both because I don't want to "waste" good fabric on something that will hopefully be much too big sometime soon in the future. And because I don't want to "reward" this body with something nice that it doesn't deserve (not to mention the disappointment I feel when I do make something and it doesn't magically transform me into gorgeousness by virtue of the fact that supposedly it fits better than store stuff. Although fitting has become its own challenge as I am increasingly dissatisfied with my ability in that regard. But that is a whole other post).

Both of these ideas are utterly ridiculous. I know this. I do.

And yet, the fabric pile grows and the machine is only used for making bags and gifts for others.

I am my own worst enemy.

Don't feel like you're all alone in the fabric .
I have 3 large plastic containers full of fabric in the garage and some fabric piled(neatly, lol)by my sewing table.I have bought tons on patterns and yet I have rarely sewn anything.I'm going to try to change this as of this next year.

Me, too. Yet, I am losing some weight and feeling more motivated to try some things for me. I do use some stash for the girls, though. In fact, things are tight enough, that I am precutting spring clothes for them completely from stash. I have pulled about 2 dozen patterns to choose from and about 30 pieces of remnants and stash. I have 3 cut out for the baby as of this weekend, obviously moving up in size from what she wears now and choosing looser fits and/or leaving the elastic out for now.

I feel your pain, I'm doing the same thing, except I'm 7 months preggers and I don't want to make anything that fits now and I don't know what size I'll be after the baby gets here. Sigh.

I understand. On things I love I made them in a simple pattern I can alter easily. And I've made one skirt I would love to wear, but can, one size too small for motivation.

I know just what you mean. I just resisted this lifelong feeling and made a dress form for this body, with every hope of it being useless by summer.

I encourage you to treat yourself like you deserve the time and money it takes to sew. You deserve it and don't have to earn it.

I feel like you took those words right out of my brain! I have no clue how to sew for the body I currently have and am scared to use the "good" fabric because I don't want to mess it up! Either I get in shape or I just start sewing anyway. Who knows.

You know I did it again today...I'm bad about yarn too. Our local yarn store which has awesome yarns had a huge sale and I couldn't resist but I think I got things I'll actually use...if nothing else to gift.

I am actually not accumulating too much of a stash right now because I have a hard time spending the money on myself. It's difficult to see it being worth it to spend the money when hopefully my body will change and hopefully my skills will increase in the near future. I need motivation.

Please ladies, love yourselves as you are. All deserve that. Be thankful for all that you are, and then use that "good" fabric to sew a gorgeous outfit, and wear it with pride.
